Graphics with Attitude

Unemployment lasted two days. A light bulb lit up above my head whilst Julie and I walked and talked along the Trent and Mersey Canal. We knew how to create mobile phone content, we just needed to find someone with the tech to sell it. For a couple of months I created new colour graphics and designed a website while Julie scoured the internet for potential business and researched ideas. “Fulep - Graphics with Attitude’ was launched at the end of 2004. Emails were pinged off and within days, licensing agreements began to drop through the letterbox. Initially from the UK, then Europe, America, Asia and Australia. Our little business went viral and within a 18 months we were supplying more than forty clients and millions of Fulep Graphics were being downloaded onto phones in over 80 countries. Our screensavers and wallpapers covered hundreds of subjects in several languages and were created to fit any phone screen. Our little local, yet global business kept life comfortable.

Then the crash of 2008 happened. Half of our clients disappeared almost overnight and half of the remaining half followed over the following months. Then Smart Phones appeared and anything was accessible over the internet. Then apps became the new buzz. I had ideas, but the technology was beyond me and although I did try to get a team of young techies together, nothing materialised.

Since starting with Monstermob, I had created around ten thousand graphics and animations covering every subject possible from religion to adult humour. My steam was running out along with the mobile entertainment boom.
