Dark Times
The past tried to cause problems even on our wedding day, then the present joined in just weeks after our nuptials. My business partner and I were informed by our bank manager and accountant that we were on the brink of bankruptcy and carrying a six figure debt. We’d completely mis-managed our business and were jointly at fault.

Life had changed dramatically for me and I was starting out all over again. I stood down without enough thought, handing over the business in the good faith that we would still clear our debt together.
I found myself unemployed, yet still responsible. For eighteen months, whilst still contributing to the comic, hundreds of letters and emails were sent in the search for work; anything from labouring to graphic design. I wrote a screenplay, ideas for magazines and television, but nothing was happening. At the same time our home was getting closer to being repossessed to clear the joint business debt that, without my engagement, was increasing. Problems with the other past were escalating too. I had everything on my shoulders, it brought me to my knees, occasionally curling me up into a ball on the floor, silently screaming. Julie bore the weight too, plus her responsibility as a mum had more than doubled, but her arms were always around me and visa-versa.
